Schools Forum - Aberdeen

The SMP Schools Forum took place in Aberdeen on November 7.

The SMP Schools Forum took place in Aberdeen on 7th November.

Run in partnership with MDEC Aberdeen for a Fairer World, the Schools Forum was a great chance to find out more about how to include Global Citizenship in a classroom or school.

During the forum, we had some great discussion about organisations in the area that offer support, and worked in groups to look at matters related to school partnerships such as the Sustainable Development Goals and Learning for Sustainability.

Sarah Aitken from Gleniffer High School chaired the forum and offered some insight into the school partnership which has been in place at the Paisley school since 2007.

Charlie Barrow and Paula Merchant also spoke about the work of MDEC Aberdeen for a Fairer World and offered practical advice on how schools could help promote understanding of global concerns and support active global citizenship, as well as information on how to access free resources.

We finished the forum by spending some time networking over Malawian drinks and snacks!

This event was open to all and there was no requirement to be a member of the Scotland Malawi Partnership or have a school partnership to attend, just an interest in finding out more about Global Citizenship, Learning for Sustainability and school partnerships.
