Education is important and girls' education even more so in a culture where it is usually sidelined in terms of priority for family resources. By enabling young women to be educated, we can change their future and that of their families, even the future of their Nation.
Moira is a founder member and co-convenor of the Mamie Martin Fund, which supports girls' secondary education in North Malawi. Through this voluntary work she met many Malawian people who are now friends. She last visited Malawi in September 2016 on behalf of the MMF Board and renewed links with its Malawian partner, the Education Department of the Synod of Livingstonia, Central Church of Africa Presbyterian (CCAP). It was also a great pleasure to be able to spend a few holiday days by the lake after a busy 10 days of work up north.
